"unable to connect"

I rebuilt with static protocols and have gotten further along.  I can
navigate much better and create an account, but I am seeing this
error: "unable to connect".

I used ping to verify that www.yahoo.com was alive and responding
before launching Finch. What are some of the problems that might
be causing this?  Any ideas?
