HELP!!!!!!!!!!

i am trying to et my daughters hotmail account up on AMSN and also on pidgin, but it keeps coming up with an connection error. The only difference between hers and mine is the fact  that she if hotmail.com and mine is hotmail.co.uk? Would this make any difference?
