Comment:

 I use Pidgin 2.1.0. Your provided .exe works correctly, but after trying
 it, original pidgin.exe started to work too, with both "pidgin-
 portable.exe" and "pidgin.exe --portable-mode", though I didn't change
 anything else (I think). Before, it wouldn't even show in process list.
