 I'm seeing this same problem.  Only affects Pidgin 2.1, worked fine in
 2.0.  I also think that ticket #2486 is the same problem as described in
 this ticket.  I would love to get it fixed, cause I have way too many
 friends that like to quote things in their away messages and I can't read
 them.
