 The idea is only to do it with aliases, and don't do it if two aliases
 truncate to the same thing.

 I don't think it actually makes anything narrower, because of the way
 ellipsization works, I just prefer having "Elie" "Mark" and "Richard" as I
 do now instead of "Elie Kar..." "Mark Do..." and "Richard La..." as I
 might have otherwise. Just makes it easier to read.
