 Every time I receive and attempt to read a message from a user that isn't
 in my buddy list, pidgin crashes. If the new conversation opens a new tab,
 it doesn't crash until I switch to that tab, but if it opens a new window,
 it crashes instantly.

 When I tried to reproduce it in gdb, it didn't reproduce, so I wondered
 if, by some fluke, it was fixed. So I quit gdb, fired up pidgin again, and
 checked to see if it was indeed fixed - but it crashed again.
