Comment (by sergey):
Oh, sorry. I'm obviously new to Pidgin debugging :-). I think the relevant
fragment of the log is this:
{{{
(16:16:16) jabber: Recv (ssl)(156): <stream:stream xmlns='jabber:client'
xml:lang='en' xmlns:stream='http://etherx.jabber.org/streams'
from='MY.XMPP.DOMAIN' id='5381442A3879' version='1.0'>
(16:16:16) jabber: Recv (ssl)(273): <stream:features><mechanisms
xmlns='urn:ietf:params:xml:ns:xmpp-sasl'><mechanism
kerb:principal='xmpp/something.that.looks.like.fqdn.in.local.domain at MY.XMPP.DOMAIN'
xmlns:kerb='http://jabber.com/protocol/kerberosinfo'>GSSAPI</mechanism><mechanism>PLAIN</mechanism></mechanisms></stream:features>
(16:16:17) jabber: Sending (ssl): <auth xmlns='urn:ietf:params:xml:ns
:xmpp-sasl' xmlns:ga='http://www.google.com/talk/protocol/auth' ga:client-
uses-full-bind-result='true'
mechanism='PLAIN'>AHNsaXBuZXZpAHh6P1FzdTdv</auth>
(16:16:17) jabber: Recv (ssl)(229): <stream:error
xmlns:stream='http://etherx.jabber.org/streams'><internal-server-error
xmlns='urn:ietf:parms:xml:ns:xmpp-streams'/><text xml:lang='en'
xmlns='urn:ietf:params:xml:ns:xmpp-streams'>user not
found</text></stream:error>
(16:16:17) jabber: Recv (ssl)(16): </stream:stream>
}}}
The problem seems to be that Pidgin starts sending something with Google
Authentication namespace and PLAIN method while my server expects Jabber
Kerberos Info namespace and GSSAPI method. The full anonymized log is
attached.
