 I got the same error.  It turns out due to the way I manage files between
 different computers, a migrated copy of .gaim existed but a new .purple
 didn't - the process must have been migrate .gaim to .purple on one
 computer, sync .gaim to another computer, and then on that other computer
 run pidgin, which tried to migrate again.

 It was a poor choice to *REMOVE* files from .gaim during migration -
 certainly not the course of action to cause the least surprise.
