 Don't know if it has any bearing on this problem but official client
 behaviour changed between Windows Live Messenger beta and the first real
 version (ie, about 9 months ago). Before that the switchboard closed on
 window close or 1 minute after the last message. Now the switchboard is
 kept open for 1 min after the last message is sent on it regardless of
 whether the window is closed before that or not.
