 No, I did reinstall Aspell.  I have fixed the problem in the end though.
 I had to go through the computer and delete every scrap of Aspell and
 Pidgin in the computer.  After the un-installation there was still little
 bits a pieces here and there (more or less), and once they were all
 completely removed the re-installation of pidgin and Aspell worked.  Took
 a little while to find everything but worked in the end.
