 I just want to add a bump to this as well, I just upgraded from Pidgin 2.0
 this morning to 2.2.1
 and I'm having the same problem.  I get back a "401: Not Authorized" every
 time I try to log in to my company's Jabber server.
 I found this bug report and tried saving the password, and it worked!

 Lemme know if you need my logs as well.
