 Do you know what a Shared Roster Group is? Your statement "[t]he roster is
 not shared" leads me to believe that you do not. A Shared Roster Group is
 a server setting which forces people onto your buddy list, it is often
 used by companies to make all the people in a department automatically
 have up-to-date rosters for the people in departments and such.
