 What is the monitor DPI on your computer and the receiver's computer?

 The MySpaceIM plugin for Pidgin 2.2.0 is hard-coded to 96 DPI. This can
 cause some inaccuracies in the font size if someone is using 120 DPI. A
 few more details: http://planet-soc.com/node/1774. The protocol sends the
 font height in pixels -- 72 pt is sent as '96', Height = Point_Size * DPI
 / 72.
