 In Pidgin 2.2.2 it will beep the PC speaker when you backspace in a chat
 window without any text in it.  It's extremely annoying and should either
 have an option to be disabled or removed all together.

 I am using Windows XP all patched and up to date.  It did not do this with
 2.2.1.  I am leaving the component as unclassified since I'm not sure if
 this affects Linux users or what changes it is actually related to.
