 weird, i just tried that and it works. Pidgin was at 24 megs, minimized
 the buddylist it went down to 4 megs, restored it, shot to 6, then
 steadily climbed to 10 sending an IMM to myself, added another 2 megs to
 make 12 total, but I its not getting back up to the original 24 megs....
 the im window has similar effect, pidgin is taking up less than 2 megs at
 the moment from an original 24!  using pidgin 2.2.2 on windows xp
