 Pidgin 2.2.2 for Windows has been uttering an annoying system beep
 whenever there is nothing in the message field and you hit backspace or
 delete.

 I can not stress in any sort of human language how annoying this is. Also
 it seems to be quite counter-productive as I often find myself
 continuously hitting it to make some melody or wake up my dog.
