 Yes I noticed that you can change the environment variable.  I'm talking
 about XMPP logs by the way.

 I'm using Pidgin/eJabberd on a company domain.  It would be nice to have
 everyone's logs saved to a file server network path so their chats could
 be administrated easier.

 It would be good for personal use as well; I could have the logs saved on
 my hard drive in a place where I keep logs from other programs like FTP.

 Settings files are specific to Pidgin, but chat logs are not specific to
 anything (they are just chat logs), therefore I think you should be able
 to specify the output directory for log files through the options dialog.
