Comment:

 Does http://pidgin.im/~sadrul/pp/422.patch fix the problem? With this
 patch, you can do:

 my $conv = Purple::Conversation->new(2, $account, "\#test");
 my $chat = $conv->get_chat_data();
 $chat->join();
 }}}
 The patch adds API, so it'd have to wait till 2.3.0.
