 just confirming that pidgin 2.2.0 does not build on my system either
 (somewhat older gentoo system) due to gnutls problems (I get the same
 output from make as the original poster posted)).  I'd really like to have
 ssl encryption though...

 perhaps there should be some platform defines to point "gnutls_x509_crt_t"
 to "gnutls_x509_crt" (and others...)

 pidgin 2.1.1 compiles w/o error
