 Ditto on Scientific Linux 4.3 (that's a Red Hat derivative).

 Also: in gtkutils.c, it doesn't know

 XGetWMHints, GDK_WINDOW_XDISPLAY

 So I added

   #include <X11/Xutil.h>

   #include <gdk/gdkx.h>

 but then it segfaults anyway.  Back to 2.1.1.
