Comment:

 A debug log (Help->Debug Window) of this occuring (ideally from both
 clients) would be most helpful in sorting this out. Offhand I can't think
 of any reason pidgin would do this as the client you aren't actively
 interacting with should not be sending out any roster changes only
 accepting incoming changes. I am leaning towards thinking that there might
 be a Google Talk clustering issue causing a race here but without debug
 logs that is wild speculation.
