Good day
I've had a recurrent problem with pidgin, under win32, where pidgin
(seemingly) arbitrarily crashes out every now and then. I've tried
different versions (2.3.1, 2.4.0, 2.4.1), and the same thing happens. I
have checked against filed bugs, but so far the crashes that I've come
across there all seem to be triggerable -- this just seems to happen on a
semi-random basis (up to 5 times a day, but as little as once in two
days). Most of the time (IIRC), when it occurs, I see that the pidgin icon
in the systray is showing that I have unread messages. Every time, I don't
have pidgin focused, and I'm not actually using it actively.
I don't know if this is related to the fact that I have VirtuaWin running
(it is the only "exotic" piece of software running on my system) -- but I
come from a Linux world, and the concept of not having virtual desktops
would make my work day a lot more difficult. Also, there are no other apps
which are behaving in this way -- even the latest GIMP seems to be stable
(so I don't know if that helps with pinning the blame on GTK or on
something within Pidgin itself)
If there is more information that I can furnish, please let me know. I
will gladly help wherever I can with resolving this issue. I love pidgin
(having tried pretty-much every other multi-protocol IM client out there).
I use pidgin for MSN and Google Talk on this machine.
