 I didn't expect this to be closed, as usual gmail caused me to miss the
 double reply, didn't see the 0717 15:54 reply, it was buried under the
 other one.

 My pidgin does work exactly as you describe.  My argument is that this is
 not enough.  I cannot come back to my PC and see that someone sent me a
 message without looking for it, and it should be obvious like it was in
 Gaim.  The conversation window should come to the front.  So I guess I'm
 asking for a change to the software, that an option be added to increase
 the level of user awareness that a new message is buried on your desktop.
 My taskbar right now has 13 items in it, my system tray has a bunch that
 are not shown, and they are tiny, and my sound is turned way down due to
 work requirements.  New messages are not obvious.  I don't think this
 request is a personal preference, we have many users of AIM with Pidgin
 now and they all complain that they don't see messages, which ruins it as
 a form of communications that it's supposed to be.  But it should be a
 selectable option, maybe "New Message Notification: low - medium - high"
 low does what it does now, medium brings it to front, and high brings it
 to front and constantly blinks the tab with the new message.

 If that could be considered in the next version I'd appreciate it.
