 I think the term that people use for their
 protocol/service/network/system/whatsit is likely very heavily dependent
 on which protocol they started with, when they started with it, who
 started them on it, etc. So assuming we can find the most useful or most
 correct term is unlikely to actually work out well. (Also, as to IRC
 Network would mean Freenode not 'irc.freenode.net')
