 I understand that a Yahoo user can add MSN buddies to their buddy list in
 Yahoo messenger and an MSN user can add Yahoo buddies to their buddy list
 in MSN messenger.

 Is this possible with Pidgin (2.5.0)?

 I've tried adding my own Yahoo account as an MSN account.  When I enable
 that account, I get the message:

     Unable to authenticate: Authentication Failure

 Do I first need to "register" my Yahoo account with my Hotmail account
 first or something?  If so, how?

 When I enter my Yahoo address in the User Name field, it's the whole email
 address...not just the part to the left of '@' as for a normal Yahoo
 account.
