 That's interesting ... are you setting your server hostname to ::1
 explicitly, rather than (e.g.) "localhost"?  I don't see why this should
 be happening, otherwise...

 I'm going to go ahead and 0-escape any hostnames beginning with :, it just
 seems prudent.
