 As I mentioned in my previous comment to you pidgin does "silently"
 reconnect in that it doesn't pop up a dialog box indicating the connection
 failure, it does however put up a mini-dialog in the buddy list (which
 should go away when the connection is restored). What about that are you
 not seeing happen? What about that are you unhappy with? What specifically
 do you want pidgin to start doing? ('Toaster' popups are not things pidgin
 does itself yet, but guifications does, whether it does this for
 disconnections or not I am unsure though it likely could be made to do
 so.)
