Comment:

 This must have gotten broken at some point as it used to work(keep in mind
 that selecting multiple languages is of limited usefulness as by default
 you can only use the language that Pidgin is running in).

 I don't know what you mean by "esp. seeing that the link provided to
 further dicts in the Aspell install included in Pidgin has only one folder
 'old')" - http://aspell.net/win32 works fine for me.
