I am using the new pidgin 2.4.0 release 1.fc8 in fedora 8.
The error below does not happen with 2.3.1 release 1.fc8.
We use openfire from Ignite as your XMPP instant message server here.
In the modify account window, in Connect server field, we use to put the
FQDN, e.g. spark.apice.com.br, which our internal DNS server resolve to
192.168.160.236.
With the new 2.4.0 version I have to use the IP number in that field in
order to get connected.
Our server does not require SSL/TLS and listen on port 5222.
The openfire version is 3.4.3 running on a openSuSE 10.2 dell server.
