different people. I, for example, would like to type longer messages to my
friends than fits the box. So now I have to scroll, which is not
impossible but also not very user friendly.
True, but most people keep the lines short, that is a characteristic of
IM. I too am not to fond of the scrollbar appearing so fast, but i like
the 2 lines by default. The input area should expand whenever you hit
<shift>+<enter> and have a scrollbar at over 15 lines or so, after that
restore to its original size.

"EMAIL" message is. Whats the count of characters where we draw this line?
Does everybody draw this line at the same count? I'm simply being pro-
choice here - let everybody select what he or she wants, which is
luckily(!) rather easy here.
There is no clear line of the count of characters. But in practice, IM
messages are usually one line. Pidgin even has 2 lines! ;)
The point is, we should find a better solution that works both ways,
instead of "making it an option".
