 I've already taken a hit from pidgin 2.2.1 -> 2.3.1 of losing abbreviated
 tab identifiers. Now from 2.3.1 -> 2.4, I lost the ability to resize the
 message input.

 That tab thing is a bug. Can you open a new ticket, and include your GTK+
 version number? 'pkg-config --modversion gtk+-2.0'
