 I'm running Gentoo with 2.6.23-gentoo-r3 kernel. When I try to request a
 Room list for IRC, Pidgin opens the window, but it is blank and pidgin
 freezes. I have to kill it or wait about 1-2 minutes until it crashes
 itself. This issue only appears in the case of IRC, I tried XMPP as well,
 but it works perfectly. I tried running pidgin --debug, but it didn't
 freeze nor crash. When I tried it again without --debug, the room list
 appeared once well, then the IRC server sent me some message and it got
 frozen again. Unfortunately, when in debug mode, it only freezes for about
 a minute and then works well.
