 Bug confirmed for Pidgin 2.4.0, Windows XP, Squid with NTLM
 authentification. Pidgin still sends the wrong header and can't be
 authenticated by the proxy.

 Maybe the workaround with the GUI option could be implemented, instead of
 the more complex option of detecting authentification type used by the
 proxy.

 This basically makes Pidgin unusable in all sorts of corporate networks :(
