 this appears to be a problem with Pidgin 2.4.0. messages can be sent to
 Miranda IM users using the AIM protocol from Pidgin 2.4.0 using the AIM
 protocol but messages sent from-to result in the above error message.

 the problem is not present in 2.3.1.

 all testing was preformed with clean installations of the Pidgin packages
 (which included uninstalling Pidgin, Gtk+, removing all related files
 leftover by hand, and running registry sweeps before reinstalling.)
