 I also get the large icon at initial start ver. 2.4.0.  I also use KDE as
 my environment.  If I go into preferences and switch on/off the tray icon
 setting between never and always, after several times the correct tray
 icon size appears. When I was running version 2.3.1 I never noticed this
 behavior....

 hope this was correct ticket to submit. I thought it was unnecessary to
 submit new ticket to 2.4.0
