 I think I got confused about who was who here, so I'll restate my
 opinions.

 I don't know that I think it necessary to display the full size buddy icon
 when hovering over the global buddy icon selector in the buddy list
 window, though I don't see anything wrong with doing so.

 I believe that currently pidgin does display the full size buddy icon for
 the buddy you are talking to when hovering over the infopane in the
 conversation window (regardless of where).
