Comment:

 This isn't a defect per-se, it is also not possible in pidgin (that is
 there isn't some checkbox you missed or anything). pidgin doesn't show
 that information in the room list (probably because most/many protocols
 don't support it for room members). It should be possible to add this, but
 would likely require a slight overhaul of how chat room member lists are
 handled internally (which is something that is desperately needed anyway,
 ticket #4835 which could also benefit from the same overhaul).
