 I'm not sure it is related but it might be judging by the fact that
 pulsecore assertions in your last attachment. If it only happens randomly
 my guess would be that it happens when pidgin tries to play a sound but
 the sound card is currently busy and so pulseaudio goes crazy, but that is
 just a wild guess as I know nothing about pulse. Make sure you try both
 the Mute Sounds option and changing the Sound Method to None as well.
