 It sounds like the libxml patch is sufficient for Pidgin. From

 Actually, I don't, because totem doesn't do what it says it will.
 (--gst-disable-segtrap doesn't do anything)

 It also happens that the pidgin crash is fixed, but the gstreamer one is
 not.
