 You can check it by yourself. Just set 'Hide new IM conversations' to
 'Always', send message to yourself from somewhere and wait for 10 minutes.
 You'll see that message notification will disappear. Even worse: I don't
 use build in history, so I lose these messages forever if I have not any
 server side history.

 By the way changing conversation timeout is very useful in this my with
 option "Don't close conversation immediately". I can have temporary
 history for configurable time. Psi has something like this, but for
 hardcoded hour. May be hour could be acceptable for me. In any case it is
 more comfortable than 10 minutes. But configurable would be excellent!
