Comment(by LimitedEdition):

 Was using pidgin fine before 5 A.M., it suddenly stopped responding, and
 now when you try to login it just sits there. Everything else internet-
 wise works fine, I can ping the servers it's trying to connect to, have no
 firewall software blocking anything, etc.
