 thanks, this helped.
 I am running Vista Businnes 32bit.

 Deleteing c:\Users\<USERNAME>\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program
 Files\Common Files\GTK\2.0 did solve the problem. (Explained at the very
 end of #7041.)
 I hope it doesn't reappear.
 Any info on what could have caused this problem?
