 OK, I see you did do the scaling, but it had to be done the way in the
 second test due to previous version requirements. It may be possible to
 update to the first way now that we require newer versions of
 GLib/Gdk/Gtk. But we also seem to be using hyperbolic scaling, which is
 crazy slow, and I'm not too sure why that is.
