 I disabled sounds and yes, the problem went away, thx a lot for this hint
 (since I don't really need sound ;) ).
 And hey, after reviewing the backtrace myself (which I did for the first
 time ;) ), I found the hint to gstreamer by myself.. I should open up my
 eyes for the next time, I think *g*.

 But I still don't understand why this only occurs (and only sometimes) in
 conjunction with MSN contacts. When I disable the MSN account, pidgin runs
 for hours... re-enabling the MSN account lets pidging crash after a couple
 of minutes.
