#7978: Pidgin uses 100% CPU when trying to close it

 OS: Windows XP

 When I try to close pidgin 2.5.3 right-clicking the icon in the system
 tray -> Quit, the app just hangs and in the Windows Task Manager I see 50%
 of CPU usage (which is in fact 100% usage on one of the cores of my dual
 core system). This happens every time I close Pidgin, and started
 happening when I installed 2.5.3 (I was previously running 2.5.1).

 The Debug window doesn't show anything interesting. Anything else I can
 provide to help diagnose this issue?
