Comment:

 `login.messaging.aol.com` resolves to something different for me, but the
 IP address you posted appears to be an AOL server, so that probably is ok.

 I can, however, telnet to `telnet 205.188.179.233 5190`; if you can't do
 that, fixing that should fix your connection problem.
