 I too have this exact bug on my WinXP box (not in Linux). The only
 information I can add as that I have large fonts enabled in Windows. It's
 the 120dpi setting (125%) set in Advanced Display Properties.

 The workout with changing the default GTK theme from Windows to, say,
 Clearlooks works perfectly. So until this bug is addressed I will leave it
 at that.

 I just recently went from Gaim 1.5 --> Pidgin 2.5.4 after putting it off
 for a long time and suddenly this bug pops up.

 This is probably a Windows only bug, as I run Linux on several computers
 and have never encountered it.
