 djedelsky's description of the patch from #7595:

 Slick reverses features and message sections in message block. This patch
 handles this situation. Stream manipulation is rather 'hacky', but doesn't
 go beyond the use in original code. Message length is now taken from
 message part of message block (the original code calculates it as
 (message_block_length - features_section_length)).
