Comment:

 Emblem-ized protocol icons are not going to happen, but the
 Buddies->Show->Protocol Icons menu item might be what you want (at least
 to a degree). It will show the protocol icon for the most active buddy in
 a contact the same way the rest of the buddy entry display the information
 for the contact.
