 Bug is confirmed on winxp. My guess is that the cause of this is the many
 many files in a single directory within a log directory. e.g. entering to
 directory .purple\logs\msn\{account}\.system takes 15 seconds for me (and
 that means only getting a file list with total commander - 2572 files...).

 Entering to .purple\logs\msn\{account}\{somefriend} takes 5 seconds (368
 files).

 When {somefriend} sends me a message for the first time, pidgin hangs for
 about the same ~5 seconds. I guess pidgin opens the directory and it takes
 a while, because of the many files.

 E.g. just tested it: I double-clicked on {somefriend2}, and it took 6
 seconds for pidgin to open up a conversation window, meanwhile the hdd was
 working like hell, and pidgin was unresponsive... after this, entering to
 directory .purple\logs\msn\{account}\{somefriend2} took zero seconds, so I
 guess the reason of that 6 seconds was that pidgin was reading the
 contents of that directory...
